NC State Retirement

CFPUA is proud to be part of the NC Retirement System for local governments. This is a defined benefit program, meaning benefits are guaranteed based on the length of credible service and annual salary.

401k and 457b Retirement Plans

401k and 457b retirement plans are available to our employees and are managed by Empower. CFPUA will automatically contribute 2% into a 401k and also offers an additional 2% match program.

Medical Insurance

We offer a choice of 2 medical plans with varying options for health and prescription services through the NC State Health Plan.

Vision Insurance

We offer vision insurance which includes eye exams, eye wear and contact lenses. Employees can select from a $130 or $200 eye wear allowance plan.

Dental Insurance

We offer dental insurance to help cover the cost of preventative, basic, and major dental work.

Flexible Spending Accounts

Flexible spending accounts are available for health and dependent day care. These accounts offer you a tax-free way to pay for qualified expenses not covered by insurance.

Paid Time Off

We offer PTO for vacation, sickness or family emergencies so you can take care of what matters. Vacation leave is accrued based on years of service. Full-time employees accrue up to 96 hours of sick leave annually. CFPUA employees receive 12 paid holidays as well as 8 hours of Floating Holiday time per year.

Paid Parental Leave

CFPUA provides full-time employees who have been with our organization for the immediate 12 preceding months with 6 consecutive weeks of paid parental leave for the birth of a child or the adoption or other legal placement of a child under the age of 18.

Basic Life and AD&D Insurance

CFPUA provides Basic Life and Accidental Death & Dismemberment insurance, as well as Dependent Life Insurance at no cost to our employees.

Supplemental Life Insurance

Employees have the option to purchase additional life insurance for themselves and their dependents.

Long Term Disability

CFPUA provides long-term disability coverage to assist employees with income replacement when out of work for illness or injury that exceeds 90 days.

Accident Insurance

We offer Accident insurance to help cover the cost of accidents unrelated to work. Employees would be reimbursed directly for accident-related costs such as ambulance rides, surgery, ER visits, and prescriptions.

Critical Illness Insurance

We offer Critical Illness insurance which pays employees directly upon first diagnosis of a critical illness, such as cancer, heart attack, or stroke.

Employee Assistance Program

We offer an Employee Assistance Program designed to provide employees and their families with confidential personal consulting and other enhanced assistance services at no cost. Services are available 24/7.
